Like An Angel By Marsha Swanson | Review

Marsha Swanson has once again proven why she’s one of the most exciting voices in progressive pop. Moreover, the singer-songwriter has dropped her new single, “Like An Angel,” from her critically acclaimed album “Near Life Experience”.

Known for her reflective songwriting and a sound that feels both timeless and fresh, Swanson continues to impress. Rock and Reel Magazine said it best, calling her “a songwriter who weaves insightful and thought-provoking lyrics into irresistibly catchy tunes.” With “Like An Angel,” she takes that magic even further.

Originally an untitled ghost track on Near Life Experience, this reimagined version brings the song fully into the light. With a live band, sweeping string sections, and a beautifully crafted arrangement, Swanson breathes new life into the piece — and the result is genuinely breathtaking. The track’s ethereal atmosphere, heartfelt lyrics, and lush instrumentation pull you in from the first note and don’t let go.

Working alongside producer Henry (King Thumb) Thomas — whose impressive credits include collaborations with Randy Crawford and Paul Weller — Swanson has surrounded herself with a dream team. With Martyn Barker on drums, Tony Qunta on guitar, and Anders Olinder on keyboards, the ensemble brings a rich, organic feel that perfectly supports Marsha’s angelic vocals. Recorded once again at Echo Zoo Studios in Eastbourne, the track feels expansive, cinematic, and deeply personal.

If you love the emotive worlds of Kate Bush and Tori Amos, Marsha Swanson’s “Like An Angel” will feel like a natural addition to your playlist. With its calming energy and romantic realism, it’s a track that invites you to pause, reflect, and get lost in its dreamy soundscape.
