Only In The Night By Von Venn | Review

Dublin indie outfit Von Venn are back with their latest offering, “Only In The Night,” set to arrive on streaming platforms this Friday, August 15th. The track marks another step forward for Gary Cox and his bandmates as they gear up for their upcoming album “Forgetting the Fall.”

Right from the opening moments, “Only In The Night” hooks you with a guitar riff that feels both familiar and fresh. The rhythm section settles into something wonderfully laid back, creating the perfect backdrop for Cox’s vocals to work their magic. His voice drifts over the music with an almost weightless quality, while the female harmonies weave through the mix, adding layers that make you want to hit repeat.

Lyrically, Cox isn’t afraid to dig into the messy reality of relationships that don’t work out, even when love is still there. “Sometimes in life a relationship has to end because someone realizes their needs don’t match their partner’s needs,” he explains. “Someone has to make the difficult decision to leave. There’s no anger or big argument, just a sad understanding that it’s over and you both need to go separate ways.”

It’s the kind of song that captures those late night moments when you’re lying awake thinking about what could have been. Cox puts it perfectly: “It’s better to let go than to be half hearted about the future. But still, on some dark nights you find yourself wondering what might have been if you had found the courage to stay.”

Von Venn have been steadily making their mark on Dublin’s music scene, and tracks like this show exactly why. They’ve found that sweet spot between catchy indie rock and lyrics that actually mean something. It’s music for people who’ve lived through these moments and need songs that understand.

“Only In The Night” drops this Friday across all streaming platforms. If you’re looking for something real in a world of manufactured emotions, this one’s worth your time.
